Throughout Israel’s history, its growth and success have been attributed to visionary pioneers, thought leaders, and social entrepreneurs who have built the Jewish state over the past century. Today, MAKOM actively works to address the challenges facing Israeli society and creating sustainable solutions to ensure a strong future for the State of Israel and all its residents.
MAKOM is a proud affiliate of Jewish National Fund-USA who has been on the ground with communities in the south devastated by the attacks, ensuring immediate needs are met and future requirements are fulfilled. I am supporting JNF-USA's $10 million Israel Resilience Campaign to fund the needs of MAKOM:
• Evacuating 10,000 residents from Gaza border communities to safer places—the State covers the evacuation of everyone within 4 kilometers of the Gaza border but everyone within 7 kilometers must be evacuated – the entire area has become a closed military zone.
• Providing evacuees with emotional support, art therapy, music therapy, children’s activities, educational & social activities for 5,000 school-aged children and teens
• Providing clothing, toys, games, books, toiletries, shoes and anything that can make their lives better for thousands of families
• Cleaning and restoring 800 bomb shelters so they are safe and usable during attacks
• Caring for 1,500 children of emergency personnel at major Israeli hospitals so their parents can save lives 24/7
• Caring for 6,000 mothers of children with husbands called up to reserve duty, providing meals, shopping, activity kits and babysitting services
• Caring for over 10,000 underserved: immigrants, families in need, individuals with special needs and senior citizens
Israelis are feeling like this is their 9/11 – yet proportionally at a per-capita scale 6x the magnitude. This attack has decimated many communities, but they will never destroy our spirit. We support the people of Israel, and we are grateful for your support of MAKOM so we can help heal the people of Israel.
