Temple Sinai, Atlanta GA -- Supports Kibbutz Be'eri

Temple Sinai is honored to support the rebuilding of Kibbutz Be'eri, both its space, its community, and to help bring refuah shlema-healing and recovery to all who call it home.

Beeri was established in 1946 as one of the first settlements in the Negev on the envelope of the Gaza Strip by the values of the Zionist idea of sharing the work together to build the land of Israel.

On the morning of October 7th, Kibbutz Beeri was brutally attacked by hundreds of Hamas terrorists who had only one goal - to murder every Jew and Israeli they encountered and destroy all the houses. Those hundreds of murderers burned, looted, slaughtered, abused, kidnapped, and killed more than 150 people from Kibbutz Be'eri - children were left orphans, women widowed, and families shattered.

Kibbutz Be’eri was once filled with children, family life, and community vibrance. Deep wounds were left by the October 7th attack. Be’eri was one of the hardest-hit communities, losing loved ones, homes, and a sense of safety in a single unimaginable morning. And yet, in every conversation we heard with Be’eri members, one message clearly resounds: the people of Be’eri are determined to rebuild their home.

In recent updates shared by the kibbutz, we see a community that refuses to let tragedy define its future. Steps are well underway for residents to be able to return when they can, children’s programs are slowly re-forming, agricultural work is beginning again, and essential communal spaces—schools, homes, gathering centers—are being reconstructed. Every step is fragile, but every step is forward.

At Temple Sinai we invite people to find, in our community, “Your Journey. Your Home.” This now takes on a deeper meaning.
Be’eri is on its own profound journey—one of healing, rebuilding, and reclaiming the sense of home that was so violently disrupted. As a synagogue that has built a relationship with Be'eri, you now have an opportunity to stand with them, to strengthen them, and to help them rebuild the place they love.

We invite you to support Kibbutz Be’eri’s Rebuilding Fund. Your contribution directly assists with restoring homes, supporting displaced families, rebuilding communal infrastructure, providing mental health services to its members, and helping Be’eri emerge from devastation with strength and hope.

How interconnected our journeys are—our hearts, our histories, and our hopes are bound together. May the support we offer help Be’eri continue its courageous journey toward home once again.

Join us in Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope:
Together, we are stronger. Together, we can make a difference.
