"MISSION: VOLUNTEER" - Documentary Film Project

For Broadcast On PBS

For Broadcast on PBS

“MISSION: VOLUNTEER” is a new documentary film project about the many volunteers coming to Israel during this time of war.

Volunteers are coming from the USA, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia; and also from many unlikely places like India, Kenya and Brazil. This helps demonstrate that Israel is not alone, despite the rampant negative bias Israel faces in defending itself.

Volunteers are coming individually, as families, and also via organized groups such as the Jewish National Fund (JNF). Volunteers from JNF and others will be among those interviewed and profiled in the film. The story of these volunteers is quite compelling, though not being told in the media or elsewhere. It’s inspiring and uplifting, and demonstrates a unique level of support.

The film is being directed by Todd Whitman, director of the PBS film "Skokie: Invaded But Not Conquered" (link below). “Skokie" was broadcast on over 200 PBS stations; receiving over 2000 individual airings; and winning an Emmy Award for Best Documentary.

This new film will be a positive counter to the nonstop, negative misinformation and propaganda in the media that Israel is faced with, constantly dragging the focus away from the horrendous crimes of October 7. It will convey the urgent message that, in fact, Israel has huge support from Jews and non-Jews worldwide. So much so that individuals are traveling to fill-in at a time when hundreds of thousands of Israelis have been pulled away from their homes and jobs to fight, creating an enormous void in agriculture and many other sectors.

Donors to the film will receive on-screen credits and, in the case of larger donations, acknowledgement where possible during private or public screenings. In addition, within the documentary, an effort will be made to show photos and/or video of donors who themselves volunteered in recent months in Israel.

Contributions are tax deductible as limited to the extent allowed by law. Donors are advised to consult their own tax advisors for further information.

The film will also generate significant attention via interviews in the broadcast and print media, online, in social media. This will, of course, just further the positive message being conveyed.

Israel is clearly also fighting on a second front - that is, the unjust, expansive backlash, which regrettably is nothing new. That’s why the need for a film like this is more urgent than ever.

 Thanks much for support!
