In Memory of Harvey Gilbert

Created by Deanne Gilbert

Harvey Alan Gilbert

In honor of Harvey's lifelong commitment to healing and peace, we have chosen the Jewish National Fund (JNF) as our designated charity for memorial contributions. This choice reflects the values that defined his life's work – both as a dedicated oncologist who brought hope and healing to countless patients and families, and as a passionate advocate for peace in Israel.

In Jewish tradition, Tzedakah (charitable giving) is considered not just an act of generosity, but a sacred obligation to pursue justice and repair the world. Harvey embodied this principle throughout his life, working tirelessly to strengthen both our local and global communities.

The Jewish National Fund (JNF) carries forward this spirit, working to build a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people through environmental sustainability, community development, and water conservation – creating shared spaces that foster understanding and peace.

For those who wish to honor Harvey's memory through Tzedakah, donations may be made here.

I so much enjoyed singing with Harvey in the RJCC choir. I am so sorry to have missed the memorial. I am converting, and not used yet to how rapidly things move with Jewish memorials and Shiva. I know now. And I was really feeling too sad to be humorous. Although that was the main way I dealt with my husband's death. His memorial brochure had a picture of him on the back with rabbit ears. As for the picture on the front, only close family members knew it was cropped from a picture of one of his sillier escapades. So you can see how much I enjoyed Harvey's humor, but also that he was very serious about things he cared about. And one was helping Deanne get over her back pain. My helper and I would see them at the fitness center. His memory is a blessing. Mary
