Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi is pictured here with Sandra and me in front of a rendering of the Roklen Resilience Center, scheduled for completion in mid-2021. The 17-room, 2-story building is entirely constructed as a bomb shelter that will treat children from Sderot and the surrounding areas along the Gaza border who experience psychological trauma from living under rocket attacks, flaming kites sent over the border to ignite the fields, and simply the ongoing fear of terror.

Israel is a small country with the majority of the population concentrated in the triangle of Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem. We believe in continuing the Israeli heritage of supporting the border communities. It is so important to protect all of the State of Israel, and especially focus on the children who suffer hardships from sirens that can happen at any time, warning of incoming rockets that may hit in 2-3 minutes and other enemy attacks.

We have visited Sderot numerous times and feel that it is a lovely place to live, with important centers of secular- and religious study, industry and agriculture. Sderot's children are not there by choice. They were either born into the community or their parents decided to move to the area for many reasons. Most of the time, life in Sderot and the region in general can be quite idyllic. Sometimes, life there can be very challenging because of the proximity to Gaza. It speaks very deeply to Sandra and me that we can help support these children with the construction of the Roklen Resilience Center.

Please help me support Jewish National Fund by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Jewish National Fund's great cause. You can also ask me how you too can get involved.
