Tri-State Region Jewish National Fund: Disabilities & Special Needs Fundraising Page

Tri-State Region

Tri-State Region

This February is Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAAIM). In honor of this great cause, the Jewish National Fund-USA Tri-State region is asking you to help us continue our work creating a better society for all of Israel’s citizens. We do this through several amazing partner organizations in Israel.

Special In Uniform (SIU) is a one-of-a-kind organization that helps all members of Israeli society to participate in defending their great nation. Soldiers with mental and physical disabilities, who are normally excused from duty, are instead integrated into a unit, and serve right alongside their fellow of-age peers. SIU believes that there is a place in the IDF for every Israeli citizen.

Red Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center provides the Arava region with the only therapeutic horseback riding service in the area. They provide over 10,000 sessions per year to more than 200 Israelis in the Negev with mental and physical disabilities. 150 of those riders heavily rely on scholarship from JNF-USA to receive this therapy.

ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran (formerly ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran), a rehabilitative village in the Western Negev for people with severe disabilities and special needs, is a permanent home to 160 residents and provides more than 10,000 outpatient rehabilitative treatments each month. This past year, it welcomed over 750 volunteers from around the world and expanded its staff to 425 employees.

LOTEM services over 10,000 children and adults with special needs in Israel with the opportunity to go outside the confines of their homes, escape the loneliness, and connect with peers in nature. It also coordinated the nationwide operation, “Computer for Every Child with Special Needs,” providing 150 computers and tablets to children whose families cannot afford it. LOTEM continues to lead groups on trips, even during lockdown periods, with more than 2,500 individuals participating. LOTEM received the Purple Standard Mark from the Israeli government, indicating that it upholds health and safety regulations and was permitted to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
