Sderot
The Beating Heart of the Western Negev
and the Gaza Envelop region

The city of Sderot, located adjacent to the Gaza Strip on the northeast, is currently
home to 30,000 residents and has been steadily growing over the past few years. Recently,
it has even been added to the impressive list of the 10 fastest growing cities in Israel!
This fact is not taken for granted at all, in light of the fact that the city has been dealing with threats of rocket fire and terror for close to 20 years! The children of Sderot were born into
and raised with the reality of Code Red sirens, and are accustomed to running for
cover into the bomb shelters within 15 seconds.

What makes the city considered the capital of the western Negev so attractive? It seems that the family-style atmosphere, the friendships, the warmth and the feeling of a kibbutz or small moshav are what truly make the difference.

In Sderot, everyone knows everyone. It’s one big, diverse family, a family dealing with a complicated reality: on one hand, rocket fire from Gaza about once every two months over the past two years, and on the other hand, constantly growing and developing, with construction of 5 new neighborhoods, shopping centers and expansive parks!

Due to the security situation, and in order to strengthen the children and residents of the city, we are raising the resources necessary to build a large, regional Resilience Complex that will include a center for PTSD treatments for individuals, a therapy center for families, and a research and conference center that will host lectures on trauma and dealing with ongoing crisis situations.

We would like to offer you a chance to be involved in the development of the city of Sderot, the front line of the Negev and of the State of Israel in general! Help strengthen the city and take part in the dream of David Ben Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, who said: “I am building Sderot so that it will be the front line and will stand strong in the face of terror threats, for the Negev and for the entire State of Israel.”

This is also the vision of JNF USA, who are long-time, loyal partners of the city of Sderot. The JNF is committed to helping Israel’s Negev and northern regions grow and flourish.

Join hands with JNF USA and with the city of Sderot! As we begin construction of the new Resilience Center, we are looking for partners to contribute therapy rooms of various sizes, with naming options available. In addition, it is possible to donate a series of treatments for one year or six months.
