Dear Friends and Family,

I am excited to be participating in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and raising funds for important projects in Israel. The Jewish National Fund is supporting Israel and Israelis in a number of different ways. The money that participating teens are raising will go towards funding several important initiatives.

The project I chose to fundraise for is The Red Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center. The riding center works with kids with special needs, giving them a place to come out of their shells while interacting with animals and doing activities they would not otherwise be able to do.

This project resonated with me because I've previously worked with special needs children and found it to be a fulfilling experience. At my camp, Camp Ramah in the Poconos, there is a program for kids and young adults with special needs, called Yedidim. The time spent with these campers was memorable and valuable. Additionally, during the year I participate in The Philly Friendship Circle where I have the chance to spend time one-on-one and in small groups with kids with special needs. We all love the joint activities we are able to do with one another.

Both of these opportunities have given me a new awareness of the incredible impact programs like The Red Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center can have on the lives of children with special needs. It's heartwarming to witness the transformation that occurs when they feel comfortable in their environment and participate in activities tailored to their needs. By fundraising for this project, I hope to contribute to the continuation and expansion of these valuable programs, ensuring that more children can benefit from the unique opportunities they provide.

If I meet my fundraising goal, JNF will provide me with a grant towards my time this spring at Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim, a high school experience in Jerusalem. While there I will be taking my regular classes while also having the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich history, culture, and academic environment of Israel and explore my own connection to the land and people of Israel.
