My Dream Israel: Teen Travel Initiative by JNF Fundraising Page

Dear family and friends,
Ever since I was one year old I have been fortunate enough to travel to Israel with my family over 14 times and spent 2-4 weeks there each summer. Because of those experiences, I have a very strong love of and connection to Israel. When other NYC kids were going to their Hamptons houses for the summer, I got to go and experience life in Israel and fall in love with the land, the food and, especially, the people. However, due to COVID it’s been a few years since I have been able to visit. But this summer I am planning to go without my family for the first time and spend 6-weeks on the Alexander Muss High School in Israel summer program to further explore and deepen my connection more independently.
As part of this process I am also excited to be participating in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and raising funds for important projects in Israel. Jewish National Fund (JNF) is supporting Israel and Israelis in a number of different ways. The money that participating teens are raising will go towards funding several important initiatives such as the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center which serves families living on Israel's border with the Gaza Strip.
This topic is very close to my heart, as I clearly remember driving with my family and passing settlements near the Gaza Strip. I immediately burst into tears because when my parents explained what those people - those children - had to endure, I felt so heartbroken for them having to live in constant fear. I thought about how I never had to consider my safety whether I was at school, in a playground or at an afterschool activity. However, families living on Israel's border with the Gaza Strip have been under fire for more than ten years. Never knowing when the next rocket attack will occur, they must always be within 15 seconds of a bomb shelter. The Jewish National Fund Indoor Recreation Center has brought a sense of normalcy to children in that area – outfitted with a rock- climbing wall, soccer field, computer labs, dance studio and more, it has been retrofitted with 300 tons of steel so children can be safe in play areas that double as bomb shelters!

My goal is to raise $2,500 for the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center. Please consider supporting this important initiative.
Thank you!!
