Hi! My name is Remy Finkelstein. Last summer, I was lucky enough to go to Israel with my summer camp program, URJ Jacob's Camp. I fell in love with the culture and the people of Israel and decided I wanted to make Judaism a bigger part of my life. I have been accepted into the prestigious Heller High School program in Jerusalem.

I am excited to be participating in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and raising funds for the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center. Families living on Israel's border with the Gaza Strip have been under fire for more than ten years, never knowing when the next rocket attack will occur. They must always be within 15 seconds of a bomb shelter. These centers try to provide a sense of normalcy to children in the region– outfitted with a rock-climbing wall, soccer field, computer lab, dance studio and more. The complex has been retrofitted with 300 tons of steel so children can feel safe in play areas that double as bomb shelters!

Meeting my fundraising goal will ensure that I receive a grant towards my Israel travel experience, allowing me the opportunity to meet Israelis whose lives have been changed due to our support, and to explore my own connection to the land and people of Israel.
