I am planning to attend the Spring semester at Alexander Muss High School in Israel where I will explore my own connection to the land and people of Israel. As such, I am excited to participate in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and help raise money for the Jewish National Fund (JNF), and the important projects that it supports. One of the projects that is being supported is the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center which took a direct hit and sustained major fire damage during the terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023.
As my Teen Initiative project, I have chosen to raise funds for the rebuilding of the Center. The Center was outfitted with sports facilities, a computer lab and dance studio and was retrofitted with 300 tons of steel that doubled as a bomb shelter. The Center brought a sense of normalcy to the children of the region, and my hope is that they can once again feel safe.
Despite the current instability of the region, my plans are still in place to leave for Alexander Muss High School in late January 2024. If I am able to reach my fundraising goal, JNF will provide me with a grant towards my own Israel experience.
