Aliza Bellas
My name is Aliza Bellas, and I'm a senior at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. Throughout my time in high school, I've been an active participant in my local Jewish community as a Judaic Studies Religious School teacher, served as Class President, and been on the editorial board of two student-led school publications.
Each year, the CESJDS seniors take a three-month capstone trip to Israel, culminating our Jewish education with an immersive experience. Before leaving for my trip, I've chosen to take on a meaningful fundraising project in hopes contribute to bettering Israeli society connect more deeply with the land of Israel.
I am so excited to be participating in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and raising funds for Adi Negev, a rehabilitation village for disabled children and adults in southern Israel. Located near Ofakim on the border with Gaza, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran has become a critical site in the current war. However, its main goal is to provide children and adults with physical and mental disabilities a warm and loving home where they will receive high-level medical and rehabilitative care. As someone with Crohn's disease who receives frequent hospital medical care, this cause is especially close to my heart.
If I meet my fundraising goal, JNF will provide me with a grant towards my own Israel travel experience, ensuring my opportunity to meet Israelis whose lives have been changed at Adi Negev due to our support. Please consider supporting this important initiative and my efforts to meet my fundraising goal. Thank you for considering supporting my initiative! Please contact me with any questions.
