Hi! My name is Oree Curca and I am excited to be participating in the Dream Israel Teen Initiative and raising funds for important projects in Israel. One of the projects that caught my eye is the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center. Families that live on Israel's border with the Gaza Strip have been under fire for more than 10 years now. Never knowing when the next rocket will hit, families have 15 seconds to get to a bomb shelter. This Indoor Recreational Center has brought a sense of normalcy to children in Israel - equipped with rock-climbing walls, soccer fields, games, and a dance studio - so children can be safe in play areas that are bomb shelters as well. I can't imagine being a child and being taught to normalize being able to get to a bomb shelter in 15 seconds. If I meet my fundraising goal of $5,000, JNF will provide me with a grant towards my own Israel travel experience at AMHSI (Alexander Muss High School Israel), ensuring my opportunity to meet Israelis whose lives have been changed due to our support, and to explore my own connection to the land and people of Israel.
