Tamar's Bat Mitzvah Fundraiser in Support of the Communities Surrounding Gaza

Tamar Shapiro

Tamar Shapiro

Last Pesach, I traveled to Israel with my family and visited different communities in the Gaza Envelope including Ashkelon, Magen, Nitzan, Nir Oz, Shlomit and Shokeda. We met wonderful people, ate delicious food and went ATV riding in the desert dunes on the border of Israel, Egypt and Gaza.

We were able to see how much JNF has done for the people who live in that region and experienced the children's center that has been built in the Eshkol Region. The people we met told us that it was worth it to live in this area because life was so wonderful and filled with friends and incredible support from all over the world.

To know that the same people I met only a year ago are suffering through these horrible and difficult times since the attack on October 7, 2023 has made me want to do anything and everything I can to help them recover and rebuild their beautiful lives.

As many of you may know, I will become a bat mitzvah in March. For my mitzvah project I chose to create this tzedakah/chesed project to help these communities return to their homes and rebuild their lives.

Please help me support JNF by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Jewish National Fund's ability to help those in need.

Am Yisrael Chai!

One of our contacts in this area is JNF’s Yedidya Harush. Here is a link to his story from the town of Shlomit. It is an incredibly powerful message of resilience after such trauma.
