Join us and the growing BRS-JNF family in support of Jewish National Fund-USA's ongoing work to rebuild and strengthen the land and people of Israel and help support a special community that is dear to our hearts. Every dollar we raise will advance our mission and the pioneers living in this critical area on the front lines.
On our previous trips to Shlomit, a community by the Egypt-Gaza border in an area known as Halutza, we saw firsthand how resilient these pioneers are and their incredible commitment to Zionism and to developing the land of Israel.
Despite the hardships of being a border community, almost daily rockets and terror threats, receiving little assistance from the government, suffering losses on Oct 7 and daily challenges of living in a remote desert area - they still persevere and shine as examples of pioneers of Israel.
We saw the unwavering hope and support that the residents give to Israel and to others - let’s show them the same support!
This page is dedicated to the memories of Aviad Cohen, Reuven Shishportish, Bechor Swid, and Oriel Bibi, who were killed when bravely fighting to save other innocent lives and to members of Shlomit's Civil Security Squad who were injured that day protecting others.
The community was left with 4 widows and 15 orphans. Over 70% of Shlomit is made up of children, who suffer from emotional stress and PTSD. Those brave heroes who were injured, have a long road to recovery.
Your gift to JNF-USA can be designated to any project area or program meaningful to you.
Shlomit Projects include:
-Family and group therapy sessions
-Bereaved and injured families therapy
-Programs to support women in the community whose husbands are on reserve duty and emotional support events
-Children's therapy including animal, art, and music therapy sessions and equipment.
-Sports programs and new Sports Complex
-Civil security, medical and fire and rescue needs
-Rebuilding including a new Shlomit Synagogue for the community in memory of the 4 heroes.
-New Trauma and Emergency Response Center, as well as Community Center that will service the entire region of 15,000 residents in the Eshkol area.
