a pioneering community on the border with Egypt and Gaza. This vital facility will not only
nurture the next generation but also serve as a protected bomb shelter, ensuring safety and
peace of mind for families as they return to the Negev and encourage more families to move
there and flourish .
On October 7, 2023, these resilient families
faced an unimaginable tragedy when Hamas
terrorists forced them from their homes. Despite
this, their strength and determination
triumphed, and by March 2024, most had
returned to begin the process of rebuilding their
lives.
Since that fateful day, Halutza has been a part of
JNF-USA's mission to lead the efforts to restore
the South. Working alongside the people of
Israel, we are committed to creating secure,
thriving communities, providing safe havens for
residents to return home with peace of mind.
In the community of Shlomit, there are currently
90 infants and toddlers, with the number
growing daily. However, there is no permanent,
secure facility where these young children can
safely spend their days while their parents
work. To address this urgent need, we are
constructing a new daycare center and nursery
school, which will include three classrooms, a
kitchen, staff room, and a large outdoor
playground. This facility will be designed to
double as a bomb shelter in times of emergency,
ensuring the safety and well-being of the
children and their families.
