Jewish National Fund-USA is working with our affiliate MAKOM Communities to help in refugee camps on the Ukrainian Border and those making it to Israel in the following ways:
• Recruiting Ukrainian and Russian speaking volunteers in Israel to distribute food, supplies and communicate the needs to others.
• Collecting basic needs including kosher food, blankets, baby formula and diapers, as well as sweets and toys for children, to be distributed to refugees that fled Ukraine, all of which is being shipped with El Al at no cost to refugee camps alongside the Ukrainian border. We have 5 representatives from our MAKOM communities that are currently on the Romanian border, evaluating the needs and seeing how we can further support and identify additional ways to assist.
• Ukrainian and Russian speaking psychologists for anyone who needs PTSD / mental health assistance, especially children – both here in Israel and on the borders of Ukraine.
• Preparing for the absorption of immigrants and refugees from Ukraine in all of our MAKOM communities in Israel, designating specific local volunteers for the different needs.
