In response to the current national crisis, MAKOM — a diverse network of mission-driven communities — has rapidly mobilized hundreds of trained community members across Israel to provide vital civilian support in key areas of need. MAKOM is working around the clock to protect the most vulnerable and strengthen civil resilience.

MAKOM has opened an emergency coordination desk to coordinate needs with our volunteers in the MAKOM community network.

Our initial work over the past 36 hours included:

*Opening Emergency Childcare for Essential Workers*

50 trained educators and community members are operating emergency childcare frameworks in multiple locations nationwide, serving over 600 children daily — the sons and daughters of doctors, nurses, first responders, and frontline workers. This program offers much-needed stability to families serving on the front lines.

*Rehabilitation of Public Shelters and Protected Spaces*

100 MAKOM volunteers are actively involved in cleaning, preparing, and equipping bomb shelters and communal protected spaces across the country. Over 30 neighborhood shelters have already been restored to safe and livable conditions, enabling communities to shelter in place with dignity.

*Support for Elderly Citizens in the Periphery*

50 MAKOM members are providing critical assistance to over 1,500 elderly individuals, many of whom are homebound, isolated, or without family support. Services include grocery and medicine delivery, help locating accessible shelters, regular wellness checks, and establishing emergency contact systems.

As Israel faces one of its most difficult moments, MAKOM is committed to bringing the power of community to the forefront — offering not only services, but human connection, care, and resilience.

Please donate today to help Makom during this National Emergency!
