MAKOM Since October 7th

Shosh Mitzman
The events of October 7th, 2023, still hang as a cloud over all of us. Our homeland was attacked and, while the war continues to wage on, there are still over 100 hostages in Gaza, 90,000 displaced people, with approximately 45,000 children between the ages of 6-17, and no end date in sight. Never since the Holocaust have Jews been displaced and are now refugees in their own homeland!
MAKOM Communities, a Jewish National Fund-USA affiliate organization in Israel, has been on the ground before October 7th, creating community life all across Israel, by volunteering throughout 300 communities in areas of education, social services, and arts & culture.
Since October 7th, MAKOM Communities have been on the ground providing essential and immediate relief for hundreds of thousands of displaced people from the North and South.
MAKOM communities focus on social action programs and improve quality of life, including but not limited to:
* Educational alternatives and after-school programs for preschoolers, children and teens.
* Art, music and drama therapy for children, mothers and teens.
* Community events as a source of relief and normalcy, throughout the year, and for Shabbat and holidays.
* Care for families of reservists including babysitting, meals and outings.
* Care for seniors and adults with special needs including wellness visits and daily activities.
Donations of all levels are accepted, and will be used towards assisting displaced families. Your support is critical!
