Granddaughter of Hostage Dreams for a Bat Mitzvah

On the morning of October 7th, 11 year old N. was huddled terrified in the safe room for hours on end, while Hamas terrorists rampaged through her home on Kibbutz Nir Oz in the Gaza Envelope, killing and destroying everything in their wake. Family members were taken captive, including her grandfather, who is still being kept hostage in the hell-tunnels of Gaza. Others were murdered.

The family has been displaced since that terrible day, far from home, unable to return because of the trauma, mourning family and friends who were killed, and sick with worry about N's grandfather.
N. will be turning 12 in the summer, and wants nothing more than to do something 'normal'. She wants a Bat Mitzvah where she can invite her friends and family, dance and be happy, and forget the trauma - even just for a few hours.

We at the Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites - SPIHS have risen to the challenge, and offered the family the use of the beautiful Valley Train Site, Kfar Yehoshua heritage site as a venue for the event at no cost. Many good people have agreed to donate their time and services for free.

We are still short of $15,000 to cover the event for about 120 people, which should cover food, equipment rental, sound and lighting, casual workers, transportation for some of the guests from evacuation centers, and other expenses.

We'd love more than anything to make this happen for one little girl whose life has been turned upside down, and has crept into the heart of us all. We have no control over what news awaits her about her grandfather, or when she'll ever be able to return home, but we CAN do this one thing that could contribute in a major way to her mental health recovery and her resilience.

Please help us reach our goal.

Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart!
